LAREDO, Texas – On August 11, Border Patrol agents seized 10 pounds of cocaine in Laredo, Texas. Agents at the Border Patrol Checkpoint on Interstate Highway 35 encountered a tractor trailer at the primary lane. The driver was questioned regarding his immigration status and referred to secondary after a Border Patrol canine alerted to the presence of concealed humans and/or narcotics.
A further search of the tractor resulted in the seizure of 4 bundles of cocaine inside a trash can located in the sleeper compartment. The cocaine was estimated to have a value of $300,800.00. The driver, a United States Citizen, was arrested. The driver and cocaine were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration and the vehicle was seized by Border Patrol.
