LAREDO, Texas, Dec. 1. – Border Patrol agents from the Laredo North Station provided first aid to victims involved in a multiple vehicle accident and assisted Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers with traffic control on Interstate Highway 35 (IH-35).
The accident occurred in the late evening of November 30, around 10:52 p.m., when a passenger vehicle and a tractor trailer travelling southbound on IH-35 collided with each other. DPS troopers arrived on scene and requested the assistance from Border Patrol agents. Agents certified as Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) immediately responded and began providing medical assistance to the victims until Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived. One of the victims was found unresponsive and was subsequently airlifted to a hospital for further treatment. Agents assisted DPS troopers with traffic control and subsequently returned to their duties once the scene was safe.
