LAREDO, Texas – Border Patrol agents stopped a smuggling attempt and apprehended an individual with an outstanding warrant at the Interstate Highway 35 (IH35) checkpoint north of Laredo, Texas.
The incident occurred on the morning of March 8, when agents assigned to the primary inspection lane at the IH35 checkpoint encountered a 2012 black Volkswagen Jetta. After an immigration inspection of the occupants, the vehicle was referred to secondary. In Secondary, agents found the driver had an active warrant out of Bexar County for a parole violation. The passenger was discovered to be from Mexico in the country illegally.
The driver was placed under arrest and was turned over to the Webb County Sheriff’s Office for extradition. The passenger was processed accordingly.
